Mike GarceauSales Manager
Mark has been in the window covering business since 1989. He learned the craft from the ground up by working for his family-owned shutter company in Dallas before launching Southern Shutters in Austin, in 1993. Utilizing his degree in production management from North Texas University, he built his production facility in Manor (15 minutes east of Austin) where he draws on local, talented professionals to supply Central Texas with a full variety of window covering options. In his spare time, Mark enjoys traveling with his wife, son, and three rescue dogs.
Mike joined our team with over 25 years of experience in the Millwork, Construction, and Home Improvement industry. He’s managed a door manufacturing and sales company, a residential remodeling company, commercial/industrial fire-rated fenestrations manufacturing and sales company, and various retail outlets. Mike has been involved in soccer clubs and soccer associations for most of my life and I still hold a National Level coaching license. He also enjoys saltwater and freshwater trout fishing.
Doreen joined us in 2012, but she has over 25 years of experience. She enjoys working with the rest of the team to produce a superior product. For fun, Doreen likes solving puzzles, and she uses that skill to organize our business and take care of our accounting, personnel, and human resources needs. She has one daughter who is currently studying psychology in college, and her hobbies include gardening and being outside in nature.

Jeff Dornak started out as a satisfied customer purchasing Plantation Shutters from Southern Shutters Shades and Blinds in 2010. The quality workmanship, attention to detail, and flawless execution attracted Jeff to join our team from a long career in marketing sales. In his downtime he enjoys exercising, watching sports, spending time with family, and golfing.
Owner/Sales. Raised in Georgetown, Chris began as an installer for Southern Shutters in 1996. Having displayed a knack for design, he moved into sales in 2000. Through his devotion and understanding of the craft, he was made a partner in 2005. He remains active in sales, providing you with knowledgeable insight when designing your custom window coverings. In his spare time, Chris stays active with his wife and two young children.
Christopher Henry was in Real Estate for over 20 years and in addition to that, worked in both Commercial and Residential construction for 20 years. With his knowledge of both, Chris is a wonderful addition to our company! In his free time, Chris likes to read and spend time with his parents at their ranch in Dripping Springs.

Eddie has been with the company since the summer of 2005, when he started with the company as a woodworker in the fabbing department. It did not take long for us to notice his love of woodworking and eye for detail. Eddie is very self-motivated. He moved into the installation department in 2007 and has been our "go to" guy ever since. For fun, Eddie enjoys billiards, watching sports, movies, and spending time with his family.
Dino first started as a sander in the paint department of Mark's father's company in Dallas in 1988. He continued to work as a painter in the Dallas area until joining us here in Austin during the summer of 2003. His nearly 25 years of experience in painting and staining of shutters is evident in the furniture quality finish he and his department apply to all our shutter orders.
Production manager and arch department supervisor. Patrick trained as a woodworker in Europe for 2 years. He began his career with us in the summer of 2006 as an installer. After a year, he moved into the arch department as the supervisor. This is where his formal training really paid off. He oversaw the arch department until the fall of 2012. Thanks to him, we have a robust arch department and can back up our claim that "arches are our specialty!" Starting in the fall of 2012, Patrick took over the management of the entire factory. Bringing with him the vigor of youth, he has our factory not only delivering our custom plantation shutters and blinds well within our lead-time, but we are now supplying other Texas shutter and blind companies with their shutters and blinds in a timely fashion. He loves anything having to do with sports, especially baseball, and he enjoys spending time with his dog

Skylerr Birnbaum has been with us since April 2014 when she came to us from the Texas Department of Insurance where she processed Workers Compensation claims. We were very fortunate to have her join our team. Skylerr has proven to be a great asset and is continuing to impress us with her abilities. Sklyerr is a native Austinite and has a young daughter. Skylerr grew up in Tarrytown and graduated from Austin High in 2003. Skylerr graduated from Austin Community College with a degree in Liberal Arts. In her spare time Skylerr likes to read and dance. Skylerr has a passion for music and really, really corny jokes.
Nicole Tuck has been with us since August 2016, and has a background in Real Estate and Office Management. Nicole is enthusiastic and outgoing! Nicole always has a positive attitude and approach and will go out of her way to assist our customers. Nicole has been a wonderful addition to our team as the Showroom Manager. Nicole has lived in Austin all her life and is proud to be able to bring her three children up in her hometown. In Nicole’s free time she loves to spend time with her family, read, and explore the outdoors. She loves to help others and is a problem solver.
Dawn recently relocated to Texas from Wisconsin where she lived for all her life. She spent 18 years working for The Home Depot in just about every area of the store. She uses her knowledge of home improvement to better serve our customers and brings her organizational, operational and customer service skills to our showroom. Dawn is an avid baseball fan and always supports her favorite team, the Atlanta Braves. She loves playing softball in her free time. Dawn was on the board of directors for her local softball league in Wisconsin holding the positions of Member at Large and most recently as the Women’s Commissioner.
