Southern Shutters and Blinds was formed in 1993, as Southern Shutters, Inc. Our goal was to focus the skills and craftsmanship we had learned working in the shutter industry for years to develop a new type of shutter installation.
Ultimately, we are able to offer a unique Plantation-style interior shutter...a superior quality shutter designed, custom painted or stained and installed to look as though it was built with the house originally.
In 2003, we began the sale and installation of our own private line of 2" or 2 ½" wood and faux-wood blinds and changed our company name to Southern Shutters & Blinds.
Shutter Division
Our shutters are made from solid North American Basswood (no finger joints), a lightweight and stable hardwood. The relatively lightweight of the shutter helps maintain a proper fit in the opening while the stability of the wood insures proper function of the shutter. These are key factors in our ability to offer our limited Lifetime Warranty on both the shutter and the installation.
In order to build a shutter "that looks like it came with your house," we will custom match your paint or we will apply the exact same paint that was used in your home. We offer a variety of trim selections, which we have found to be perfect matches in over 95% of the homes we shutter. We stock eight different hardware finishes to blend with the hardware color found in most homes.
Blind Division
Our 2" and 2 ½" wood and faux-wood blinds are made from superior quality materials and carry a limited Lifetime Warranty on both product and installation. Our preference for better and stronger components helps prevent the blinds from malfunctioning. The cords and ladders used to support the louvers and control the blinds are guaranteed never to stretch, fray, break or discolor (beyond normal wear and tear.)
All of the moving parts in our blinds are metal, not plastic, and our bottom rails are trapezoid shaped to allow for better closure. Our cord tilting mechanism is "hooded" which makes it nearly impossible for the cord tilt to "jump off" the mechanism. Our blinds are available in a variety of paint and stain finishes to blend with your décor.

We will come to your home for a free consultation and on-site estimate. When you place an order for shutters, we will assist you in your selection of shutter configuration, take precise measurements and match hardware and paint or stain colors as well as trim molding. We even offer temporary window coverings. Southern Shutters & Blinds are offered to you at factory direct prices. We manufacture in the Austin area and provide free installation and a limited Lifetime Warranty on both our products and our installation.
